The Internet Blues

My husband was recently accepted for a transfer at work from Phoenix to Prescott, AZ. We had been waiting for this opportunity to open up since we moved to Phoenix to be with our family a year-and-a-half ago.  Not fond of the summer heat, we jumped all over it and moved with our daughter and grandson.

As anyone knows, moving can be a bit stressful, but particularly when you’re without Internet service for almost 2 weeks.  At least, that was the most stressful part for me. My, how I have become dependent on modern technology.

I knew I’d be without for a few days, at least, but never anticipated it would go beyond that.  After setting up service, I had problems with the modem/router I had purchased so I could have a wireless connection.  After exchanging for another type, I still couldn’t connect.  I couldn’t even take my laptop to a nearby Wi-Fi location because the power connection had shorted out about a month ago.

To make a long story short, I was without service for almost two weeks.  After a week, I was getting increasingly frustrated because I had missed sending out, not one, but two newsletters to my subscribers.  That was very upsetting for me because I had never missed an issue, and had already missed two! The best I could do at the time was post a Tweet on Twitter from my cell phone, to let my followers, and friends on Facebook, know what happened to me.

Realizing that my hands were tied because I was at the mercy of technology and my Internet provider (ISP) to figure out the problem behind the scenes, I began asking myself why this was happening. As I took a step back (after driving to the nearest public library to send a message to my subscribers and have my grandson browse through library books), I came to my usual conclusion. “Everything happens for a reason.”  There was something else I was to be doing during this time.  It didn’t take me long to figure it out.

Stay tuned to find out what that was, and what this has to do with setting goals.

Till next time,

Sorry to hear about your lack of internet service. Just wanted to welcome you to the Prescott area! I do a lot of networking and would be happy to help you if you need anything from a Chiropractor or Massage Therapist to a Handyman or Chocolate Truffle maker!

Also very interested in your book. Drop me an email sometime to chat.

    enjoy the day!
